On August 10, The Wings Cultural Society presented ‘Topi Ki Dastan’, a chapter of the CBSE grade X syllabus, at Welham Boys’ School for the students of the Middle and Senior School. The story telling was basedon the novel of Rahi Masoom Reza which depicted the influence of partition on the Indian culture. Infact, it tells us as to how the belief system of any religion binds people together. Moreover, the social fabric gets its direction from the different religions followed by its people. The story was presented in an interesting and engaging manner to capture audience attention and mood. Students were mesmerized listening to the story and the manner in which it was put across to them. They enjoyed the event and got to know a different perspective of the Indian Culture.

The story left a powerful impact and impression on the students. It highlightedthe feelings of people from the Hindu and Muslim communities, telling us how they adjusted and aligned their culture with that of the society after the unfortunate partition of the country. It conveys that mutual respect and community living can decimate hatred and promote love for each other.

The story telling event of ‘Topi Ki Dastan’ will go a long way in fostering peace and prosperity in society and promote respect for each other’sreligions.
