The Woodstock MUN

A group of twelve boys escorted by Mr Mohit Sinha, represented Welham Boys' School at the 9th WSMUN from 30th March to 1st of April. The boys were part of the three committees -United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc.) and the Human Rights Commission (HRC).

The agendas discussed for UNEP were better-management of e-waste and protection of natural heritage sites. For the Ecosoc the topics discussed were the Millennium Development Goals which focused on the goal two and goal eight. Finally the HRC discussed issues such as basic human rights for LGBT'S and protection of human right activists.

The chief guest for the event was Dr Kiran Bedi, who at the opening ceremony delivered a speech about how events such as MUNs mould the leaders of tomorrow. Other schools who also participated in the event were namely DPS RK Puram, Hopetown Girls' School, The Doon School, Pathways School and the host school.

The school walked away with three awards, with Varun Lohia, Sheikh Burhan and Divij Gupta winning the best delegate in Ecosoc, HRC and UNEP respectively.
