The School prides itself on the fact that it tries to give back to the local community. As part of this effort, students perform street theatre against drug/ substance abuse and to enlighten the local people on evils such as AIDS, alchoholism and so on.

The School has adopted a municipal school as well as a village in the hills, and boys are encouraged to work in both these areas. In an ongoing effort to be part of an integrated society, Welham Boys school has also played host to the Special Olympics. The boys also undertake periodic fund raising drives for worthy causes such as disaster relief.

The school is treated by the WWF as a nodal agency for its activities in the state, and indeed an office of the WWF is located on the premises.
