WELHAM BOYS SCHOOL MOVING TOWARDS PROGRESS AND EVOLUTION

They say its much easier to build a new school, than to modernize an old one. As Welham Boys School enters its 72nd year, the challenge of streamlining and modernizing its infrastructure remains a very daunting one. The Board of Governors, has, however, decided to take the proverbial “bull by the horns”, and rapid strides are being taken almost on a daily basis, to respond to this challenge.

Amongst the many new initiatives taken recently are:

(a) The laying of a new road from the Oliphant gate right up to the North Block Staff Quarters.

(b) Upgradation of the Hospital with state-of-the-art equipment like an oxygen concentrator and the
addition of a whole new physiotherapy unit manned by a trained physiotherapist.

(c) The playfield near the orchard has been extended and re-grassed.

(d) Satluj House has been totally re-roofed and Treveni rendered water proof with the latest
     technology.

(e) The English Department has initiated a “Language Lab” in order to enhance the linguistic abilities of
      the pupils.

(f) Security is a major concern at Welham Boys School as well. CCTV Cameras have been placed at
strategic locations and various other security measures (e.g. walkie-talkies to guards), have been put
    in place.

(g) “Prep” has been shifted to the hostels and new furniture has been provided for the purpose.

(h) In order to make visitors’ lives easier, toilets for ladies have been constructed at least two locations.
